Tomb of Asif Khan

The Tomb of Asif Khan is a Mughal-period funerary monument in the Shahdara area of Lahore built for Asif Khan, a prominent noble of the Mughal court. It is one of several 17th-century tombs in the Shahdara complex that illustrate Mughal funerary design.

The monument features characteristic Mughal elements including a raised platform and decorative masonry and originally formed part of a landscaped funerary complex. Over time the tomb has experienced decay and restoration interventions common to historic structures in the area.

Constructed during the Mughal era, the tomb dates to the 17th century and reflects the period’s use of garden settings and formal funerary architecture for high-ranking courtiers. It was commissioned in memory of Asif Khan, an influential figure in the Mughal administration.

Sited in Shahdara on the northern outskirts of Lahore, the tomb is within a group of Mughal monuments set near the historic course of the Ravi River and is accessible from central Lahore by road.
