Tokunoshima (Tokuno Shima) is an island in the Amami group of Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, and part of the Ryukyu island chain. The island is noted for its subtropical environment and distinctive local culture.

There are also ferry services from Kagoshima on Kyushu to ports on Tokunoshima for vehicle and passenger transport; once on the island local roads link the airport and ferry ports to towns.
