The site is primarily visited for its ruined fortifications and the dramatic setting overlooking the valley and river below. Remnant walls and towers offer an impression of the fortress plan and defensive layout.
Built in the medieval period, the fortress served as a local stronghold and watchpoint on historic routes through the region. Over the centuries it fell into ruin, leaving the surviving masonry visible today.
