Timna has evidence of metallurgical activity dating back to the Bronze and Iron Ages and shows intermittently long-term exploitation of local copper deposits. Timna Valley (Timna Park) lies north of Eilat in southern Israel, about 20-30 km from Eilat’s centre - a roughly 20-30 minute drive by car. The site is reached by road from Eilat; many visitors use rented cars or organized day tours from Eilat. There are occasional tourist buses and tour operators running shuttle services from Eilat that stop at the park entrance.
