Tierpark Berlin is a large zoological park in the Friedrichsfelde quarter of Berlin, opened in 1955 and developed as the city’s major zoo during the postwar period. The park occupies extensive landscaped grounds with spacious enclosures intended for larger species and mixed collections.
The zoo focuses on species conservation, breeding programs and visitor education, with notable holdings of large mammals and hoofed animals alongside primates, birds and reptiles. Enclosures and facilities were expanded over decades to modernize habitats and visitor access.
Tierpark Berlin lies in the eastern part of Berlin near the Friedrichsfelde district and the historic Schloss Friedrichsfelde (Friedrichsfelde Palace), with public transport connections from central Berlin.
