The Tibes Indigenous Ceremonial Center (Parque Ceremonial Indígena de Tibes) is a pre-Columbian archaeological complex located in Ponce, Puerto Rico. It records centuries of indigenous ceremonial activity and is one of the island’s major archaeological parks.
The complex includes multiple earthen plazas, a formal ball court and associated burial areas laid out over a broad open site; these features are visible as low platforms and paved zones. An on-site museum displays pottery, stone tools and interpretive materials that explain the indigenous cultures and the archaeological excavations. Trails and signage provide a sequence for exploring the ceremonial spaces and viewing exposed features without disturbing them.
Archaeological work at Tibes has documented occupations and ritual use spanning pre-Columbian periods; excavations in the 20th century recovered a large assemblage of ceramics, lithics and burials that shaped the site’s interpretation. The site has been developed as a public park and museum to preserve and present these remains.
The center is within the municipality of Ponce on the southern side of Puerto Rico, set in a lowland area outside the urban core; it is accessible by road from central Ponce and nearby coastal towns.
- Best time and tours: Morning visits are cooler and quieter; guided tours provide context for the plazas and burials and are recommended to understand the layout.
- Conservation note: The on-site museum contains most of the recovered artifacts; many archaeological features are visible but fragile, so stay on paths.

- Burial and rock-art areas: Archaeological burial areas and petroglyphs visible in situ, interpreted by the onsite displays and guided tours.
