The Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas is a large natural World Heritage site in northwest Yunnan, China, where three major rivers run roughly parallel through steep mountain terrain. It is notable for the co-location of the upper reaches of the Jinsha (upper Yangtze), Lancang (upper Mekong) and Nujiang (Salween) rivers and for exceptionally high biodiversity.

The site contains deep gorges, extensive montane forests and a mix of subtropical to alpine habitats; plant and animal communities from several biogeographic regions meet here. Much of the area is protected in a network of nature reserves that conserve rare and endemic species and extensive primary forest.

The zones included in the protected area were established across the 20th century by provincial and national authorities to conserve watersheds and biodiversity; the property was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2003. Over time management has combined strict reserves with multiple-use areas to balance conservation and local livelihoods.

Geographically the site sits in remote, rugged terrain of northwest Yunnan province, spanning parts of several prefectures and bordering Tibetan and Himalayan foothill landscapes. The nearest major provincial centre is Kunming to the southeast, while access to different parts of the property is by regional roads and mountain passes.

Kunming serves as the regional gateway; from Kunming take domestic flights or long-distance buses to Lijiang, Shangri-La (Zhongdian) or Dêqên depending on which protected area is the destination. Local roads are mountainous - hire experienced drivers and consider guided tours for safe access.
