The O2 Arena
Stadium Large indoor arena and entertainment venue on Greenwich Peninsula
The O2 Arena on London’s Greenwich Peninsula stages concerts, sports and exhibitions inside the dome that replaced the Millennium Dome; attendees combine shows with riverside restaurants and the Peninsula’s skyline views.
The O2 Arena is a large indoor entertainment and sports venue on the Greenwich Peninsula in southeast London, built within the former Millennium Dome. The arena is one of London’s primary concert and event spaces and hosts sports fixtures, exhibitions and touring shows.
The venue’s flexible seating and stage configurations accommodate concerts, basketball, ice shows and other large events, with a maximum capacity of around 20,000 for major performances. The wider O2 complex includes shops, restaurants and a cinema, and a paid rooftop walk offers guided climbs to the dome’s crown for panoramic city views.
The arena was opened for public events in 2007 when the dome was redeveloped into a commercial entertainment complex, and it remains a high-profile central-London venue with frequent international performers.
The O2 sits on the Greenwich Peninsula beside the River Thames and is served by North Greenwich underground station on the Jubilee Line and by river services at nearby piers.
- Transport links: Located on the Greenwich Peninsula with direct access from North Greenwich station on the Jubilee Line, making it highly accessible from central London.
- Capacity and opening: Opened inside the repurposed Millennium Dome and first used as a live entertainment venue in 2007; the arena's capacity is roughly 20,000 for large concerts.

How to Get to The O2 Arena #
The O2 Arena (Greenwich Peninsula, London) is immediately adjacent to North Greenwich Underground station on the Jubilee line - the station exit opens close to the arena entrance (a few minutes’ walk). Riverboat services (Uber/Thames Clippers) also call at North Greenwich Pier. By road the arena is reached via the A102/A2 (Blackwall Tunnel southern approach) and is within London; parking is limited so public transport is strongly recommended.
Tips for Visiting The O2 Arena #
- Use North Greenwich tube station (Jubilee line) or North Greenwich Pier (Thames Clippers) for the quickest access - both drop you within a short walk of the arena and usually avoid the longest event‑day queues.
- If you want to avoid the main crush at event end, either linger inside for 20-40 minutes after the final whistle/curtain call or leave via the river services from the pier to bypass the packed Jubilee line exits.
Best Time to Visit The O2 Arena #
