About The Domain, Sydney#
The Domain is a major area of public parkland on the eastern edge of Sydney’s central business district in New South Wales, Australia. It forms part of the city’s historic open space network that sits between the CBD and Sydney Harbour.
Extensive grassed terraces and open lawns are used for large public gatherings, festivals and free outdoor concerts that can attract thousands of people. The site lies directly adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and provides panoramic views across Sydney Harbour and to the Sydney Opera House from its northern slopes.

The Domain originated as part of the Governor’s Domain set aside in the early colonial period and has been used as public open space since the 19th century.
