Teram Kangri
Mountain High Karakoram peak on disputed border
Teram Kangri is a group of high peaks in the eastern Karakoram range, within the Siachen region of the greater Karakoram. The massif contains multiple summits that exceed 7,000 metres and is noted for its glaciated ridges and high-altitude terrain.
The cluster includes several individually named summits commonly referenced as Teram Kangri I, II and III; the main summit rises to an elevation in the mid-7,000-metre range. Mountaineering interest focuses on the technical glaciated routes and remote approach over high mountain glaciers.
These peaks occupy a disputed and heavily patrolled border area in the eastern Karakoram, and their use has been affected by military control and border restrictions, which limit civilian access and organised expeditions in many periods.
The massif sits in the high Karakoram, in the general Siachen/indus headwaters region of the greater Himalayan-Karakoram complex, well inland from major population centres.
- Access restrictions: Access and climbing are complicated by the mountain's location in a politically sensitive and militarised border region.
