Tepe Sialk is an archaeological site of two tell mounds near the city of Kashan in Isfahan province, Iran, representing long-term prehistoric occupation and early urbanizing activity in the region. The site preserves layered remains from Neolithic and Bronze Age communities and is one of the important ancient sites in central Iran.
Ruins of stone and mudbrick structures, funerary deposits, and domestic remains are visible in the excavated areas. The two mounds retain stratified deposits that show successive phases of settlement; visitors see exposed sections and consolidated walls plus explanatory displays in the on-site visitor area. The site is modest in scale compared with large museum complexes but important for understanding early settled life and craft production in the Iranian plateau.
Archaeological work at the site uncovered multiple occupational phases spanning prehistoric through early historic periods; the mounds were built up over many centuries by local communities. Excavations in the twentieth century revealed the sequence of occupation and removed large numbers of artifacts now studied in regional museums. Over time the exposed surfaces have been conserved and parts of the site prepared for public interpretation.
The site sits on the outskirts of Kashan in central Iran, set on relatively flat agricultural land typical of the Kashan plain. It is close to the urban area of Kashan and is accessed from roads linking the city to outlying villages and rural sites.
