Templiner See Lake

Templiner See is a freshwater lake in the state of Brandenburg in northeastern Germany, forming part of the Havel river-lake system just outside the city of Potsdam. The lake has wooded and built-up shores and is integrated into local boating and cycling routes.

The water is used for recreation including small-boat navigation and shoreline walking or cycling; there are public access points from Potsdam.

The lake lies immediately to the south and southwest of central Potsdam and is within the broader Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan area, roughly 25 to 30 km southwest of central Berlin.

From Berlin, take regional trains toward Templin or Neuruppin and then a local bus or bike ride to the lake. The area is reachable by car via the B96 road; parking is available at several public access points.

• Rent a bike in nearby Templin for lakeside cycling - the area around Templiner See has pleasant paths and small beaches.
• Visit early in summer mornings for birdwatching; the lake attracts a variety of waterfowl.
• If swimming, stick to designated bathing spots - water quality is generally good but check local signage.
