Tell al-Rimah

Tell al-Rimah is an archaeological tell in Nineveh Governorate in northern Iraq that contains occupational remains spanning multiple Mesopotamian periods. The site has yielded stratified deposits and inscriptions important for the study of ancient northern Mesopotamia.

Archaeological work at the tell recovered cuneiform tablets and royal inscriptions alongside domestic and administrative architecture, providing material evidence for Old Babylonian and Assyrian-period activity at the site. Finds from the excavations have been referenced in studies of regional chronology and state administration.

Excavations took place in the 20th century under archaeological missions and produced the principal published documentation of the recovered tablets and inscriptions. The material from the site continues to be a resource for specialists working on Assyriology and Mesopotamian history.
