Technopolis (Gazi)

Technopolis in the Gazi neighbourhood of Athens is a cultural complex housed in a former industrial gasworks dating to the 19th century. It functions as a centre for contemporary culture, arts and events in the city.

The site contains multiple exhibition halls, preserved industrial structures and large paved courtyards used for concerts, festivals and markets. Programming ranges from temporary art exhibitions to live music and large public events, with indoor and outdoor event spaces.

The complex was originally built as Athens’ gasworks in the 19th century and operated as an industrial facility until the late 20th century. The municipal authorities restored and repurposed the site as a cultural centre and event venue while retaining much of the original brick and ironwork architecture.

It sits in the Gazi quarter just west of central Athens, within the city fabric and close to the Kerameikos area and archaeological zone. Public transport links from central Athens provide routine access.
