Teatro de la Maestranza

The Teatro de la Maestranza is Seville’s principal modern opera house located in Andalusia, Spain, completed in the early 1990s and intended as the city’s major venue for opera and large-scale musical performances.

The theatre’s main auditorium seats roughly 1,800 people and is fitted for full opera productions, ballet and orchestral concerts. The building hosts seasonal opera seasons, touring companies and a programme of concerts and recitals throughout the year.

Built as part of Seville’s late 20th-century cultural investments, the theatre was completed and inaugurated in the early 1990s to provide the city with a purpose-built opera venue. Since opening it has become the centre for major staged productions in Seville.

Situated on the Guadalquivir River bank close to the historic bullring, the theatre lies within central Seville and is within walking distance of the old town and other cultural sites.
