Tatshenshini-Alsek Provincial Park

Tatshenshini-Alsek Provincial Park is a remote protected wilderness area in northwestern British Columbia that conserves glacier-fed river systems, coastal-range mountains and extensive icefields. The park protects a largely roadless landscape of valleys, glaciers and braided rivers.

The area is best experienced by multi-day river expeditions, fly-in camping, or guided trips that traverse the Tatshenshini and Alsek river corridors; these waterways lead west toward the Gulf of Alaska. Wildlife such as grizzly bears, mountain goats and migratory birds use the park’s diverse habitats.

The park links with adjoining protected areas in Yukon and Alaska to form a larger transboundary conservation landscape that has been recognized for its outstanding glacial and mountain scenery. Management focuses on conserving ecological integrity while permitting low-impact wilderness recreation.

Tatshenshini-Alsek Provincial Park lies in the extreme northwest of British Columbia, bordering Yukon to the north and close to the Alaska panhandle to the west, in a remote coastal-draining mountain region.
