Tangkuban Prahu is an active stratovolcano north of Bandung in West Java, Indonesia, notable for its upturned-boat shape and accessible crater rims. The name and the volcano are tied to local Sundanese legend and the site is a popular weekend and day-trip destination from Bandung.

The main visitor areas are the crater rims where steaming fumaroles, sulfur deposits and shallow craters can be viewed; the two most visited crater areas are Kawah Ratu and Kawah Domas. Facilities and marked paths allow short walks to viewpoints, and vendors and guides operate at the main parking areas.

The volcano has produced historical eruptions and its crater areas show ongoing fumarolic activity; local authorities monitor volcanic conditions and may close crater access during heightened activity. Visitor infrastructure has been developed to manage safety and erosion at popular viewpoints.

Tangkuban Prahu lies on the Bandung plateau roughly 20 kilometres north of central Bandung, within West Java, and is reached by road through the Lembang area.

Tangkuban Prahu (Tangkuban Perahu) is north of Bandung in West Java. By car it’s commonly reached from Bandung via the Lembang road (Jl. Raya Lembang) - the drive is roughly 20-30 km from central Bandung and typically takes about 1-2 hours depending on traffic. Public transport: take an angkot or minibus from Bandung to Lembang and then a short local taxi/ojek ride up to the crater parking area; expect a short walk from the parking/visitor area to the main viewpoints.

• Get there at first light for the clearest crater views and to beat the bus tours that arrive later in the morning from Bandung.
• Enter through the park's main visitor/parking area at the crater rim (the primary Kawah viewpoint) to access the best lookout points rather than attempting side approaches.
• Be mindful of wind and sulfur fumes at active vents - stay on marked paths, follow park ranger instructions, and avoid lingering downwind of fumaroles where gas is strongest.
