Taketomi Island is reached by ferry from Ishigaki Island. Ferries depart Ishigaki Port for Taketomi Port; the crossing is short (around 10-15 minutes on the regular ferry services). Ishigaki Airport is on Ishigaki Island - the drive from the airport to Ishigaki Port is a short transfer (roughly 15-20 minutes by car), and on arrival at Taketomi Port the main village is a few minutes’ walk from the landing area (or a short bicycle ride).
