How to Get to Tai Mo Shan #

Tai Mo Shan is Hong Kong’s highest peak in the western New Territories (Tsuen Wan District). The main access roads are Route Twisk and Tai Mo Shan Road; from Tsuen Wan town centre it’s about a 20-30 minute drive to the country‑park entrances.

Public buses and minibuses run to nearby trailheads/parking areas (routes vary by origin), and from the nearest roadheads the summit requires a hike of roughly 30-60 minutes depending on route and starting point.

Tips for Visiting Tai Mo Shan #

  • Aim for clear mornings (especially in winter) for the best long-range views and the chance of a sea-of-clouds; summit conditions can be foggy and much windier later in the day.
  • Start your hike early on a weekday and use established trailheads (for example those reached from Route Twisk or nearby lead-in paths) to avoid weekend crowds and limited parking on narrow roads.
