Taha’a is an island in the Leeward group of the Society Islands in French Polynesia. It is a small, inhabited island centred on a lagoon and rimmed by coral reef and motus.
The island is traditionally associated with vanilla cultivation and small-scale pearl farming, and it maintains a rural island character with villages and plantations rather than large resorts. Visitors travel from nearby Raiatea by short boat crossing to reach Taha’a.
Geographically it lies in the central South Pacific as part of French Polynesia’s Leeward Islands and is connected by regular local boat services to neighbouring islands, most notably Raiatea.
