The surrounding countryside is beautiful and yet another attraction. The views boast imposing mountains, fields dotted with horses and cattle, wild flowers, rice paddies and thick forests. There are treks available for the adventurous and footpaths leading up to the monastery.

The monastery dates back to 1560 and highlights include the 600 monks who worship here, the great hall of meditation, the Great Hall of the Golden Roof and the pepul tree, which was the reason for building the monastery as it is believed to be imprinted with Buddha’s footprints.
