Szczeliniec Wielki
Mountain Unusual sandstone peak with labyrinthine rock formations
A peak in the Table Mountains featuring a sandstone labyrinth of rock formations, wooden walkways and panorama platforms; hikers come for unusual geology and viewpoints.
Szczeliniec Wielki is the highest peak of the Table Mountains in southwestern Poland, rising to 919 meters above sea level. It is the principal summit and visitor attraction within the Stołowe Mountains National Park.
The summit area is formed of weathered sandstone pillars and narrow fissures that create a rock labyrinth, with staircases and viewing platforms that offer panoramic views across the plateau. Trails wind through clefts and between towering rock formations, making the site notable for close-up exploration of unusual sandstone shapes.
The rock formations are natural sandstone shaped by long-term erosion; visitor paths, steps and small viewing structures have been installed to provide safe access through the narrow sections. These interventions allow public access while concentrating foot traffic on defined routes.
The peak sits in Lower Silesian Voivodeship near the village of Karłów and the town of Radków in southwestern Poland.
- Elevation: 919 meters above sea level.
- Access: Reached by marked trails from the nearby village of Karłów; the summit includes narrow rock passages and staircases that can limit accessibility.
