Lidingö is an island and municipality in Stockholm County, immediately northeast of central Stockholm. It is an inhabited suburban island that forms part of the inner Stockholm archipelago and functions as a residential and cultural area close to the capital.
The island offers shoreline paths, residential districts, and cultural attractions such as Millesgården, a well-known sculpture museum and garden. The island is connected to mainland Stockholm by the main bridge, providing frequent road and public-transport links to the city.
Historically the island has long been inhabited and developed into a suburban municipality within Stockholm County; it contains both older estates and modern residential areas. The local municipal government administers services for the island and nearby islets that form part of the municipality.

How to Get to Lidingö #
From central Stockholm: take the Lidingöbanan (light rail) from Ropsten station across the bridge into central Lidingö. Several SL buses also cross the causeway. Driving over the Lidingöbron (bridge) from central Stockholm takes about 10-20 minutes depending on traffic.

- Take the local bus from Stockholm (SL bus 201/203) to avoid ferry lines in summer - buses cross the causeway and go into central Lidingö.
- The small museums and summer villas along the eastern coast are easiest to visit by bicycle; local bike rentals are available in town.
