Svendborg is best reached by rail via Odense (Svendborgbanen) or by a longer rail/bus trip from Copenhagen. The town is compact, with the station near the harbour and good local bus and ferry links to islands.

By Air

Copenhagen Airport (CPH): Copenhagen is the main international airport used to reach Svendborg. From CPH take a train to Odense (about 1.5 hours) and change to a regional train to Svendborg (Svendborgbanen) - total travel time from the airport is commonly around 2-2.5 hours.

Odense Airport (ODE): Odense Airport is closer but has limited scheduled services; from Odense take the direct regional train to Svendborg (about 40-50 minutes) if services are running that day.

By Train & Bus

Train: Svendborg is the terminus of the Svendborgbanen line from Odense; Odense→Svendborg trains take about 45-50 minutes. From Copenhagen you’ll typically change at Odense. Svendborg Station sits close to the town centre and harbour.

Bus / Ferry: Local Fynbus services link Svendborg with surrounding towns and villages; the harbour also provides ferry links to nearby islands - check local operators for schedules and seasonal variations.
