Sunset Point
Cliff Overlook with expansive canyon panoramas
Sunset Point at Bryce Canyon National Park offers an accessible overlook of the hoodoo amphitheater and rim trails. Visitors favor late‑afternoon light, photography and short walks along the Rim Trail.
Sunset Point is a rim viewpoint on the Bryce Amphitheater in Bryce Canyon National Park in southern Utah. It is one of the park’s principal overlooks and gives direct views into the amphitheater of eroded sandstone hoodoos.
The site provides panoramic views across hundreds of hoodoos and broken spires clustered in the amphitheater below. A paved approach and short walking sections give access to multiple outlooks; the Navajo Loop Trail, a 1.3-mile (2.1 km) loop, begins at Sunset Point and descends into the amphitheater.
Sunset Point lies within Bryce Canyon National Park, which was designated a national park in 1928; the overlook has long been a focal point for park visitors. Park trails and viewpoint facilities have been improved over time to accommodate tourism and trail conservation.
The viewpoint sits on the rim above Bryce Amphitheater near the small community of Bryce Canyon City in southern Utah. It is accessible from the park road that links the lodge area to other rim viewpoints.
- Navajo Loop Trail: A 1.3-mile (2.1 km) loop trail begins at the viewpoint and is one of the park's most-used day hikes.
- Best light: Sunrise and sunset produce the strongest color contrast on the hoodoos, making early morning or late afternoon the best times for photography.
