Stromovka is a large urban park in Prague (often called Královská obora, or the Royal Game Reserve) that functions as one of the city’s main recreational areas. It occupies a broad expanse of green space in the Holešovice/Letná area and is used for walking, cycling and informal recreation.
Wide promenades, open lawns and ponds form the main attractions; the park includes formal paths and quieter natural areas across its roughly 95 hectare footprint. It is commonly paired with visits to the nearby Výstaviště exhibition grounds and other cultural venues to the south.
The site originated as a royal game preserve in the medieval period and was gradually opened and landscaped as public parkland during later centuries. Elements of the park’s layout and planting date from 19th century improvements that shaped its modern appearance.
Located in Prague 7, north of the city centre and northwest of the Vltava river, it sits between the Letná hill to the south and the Holešovice district to the north, a short distance from Prague’s historic core.
