How to Get to Strečno Castle
Drive or take regional trains to Žilina, then a local bus or taxi to the village of Strečno (about 20-30 minutes). From the village there is a steep footpath up to the castle of roughly 20-30 minutes. By road, follow Route 64 and signs for Strečno; parking is available in the village.
Tips for Visiting Strečno Castle
- If possible, schedule arrival in the late afternoon for better light on the castle ruins and fewer coach groups.
- Wear sturdy shoes - the castle sits on a steep cliff and paths are uneven and sometimes muddy.
