Strathcona Provincial Park is a protected park on central Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, established in 1911 as one of the province’s earliest provincial parks.

The park contains rugged alpine terrain and large lakes; it is a prime destination for hiking, backcountry camping, mountaineering and fishing. Notable natural highlights include high peaks and long trails that require overnight travel for many classic routes.

Many visitors base trips around lakes and trailheads along the park’s southern sector for day hikes, canoeing and boat access; more experienced parties head to alpine routes and summits for multi-day climbs.

The provincial government created the park in 1911 and named it after Lord Strathcona (Donald Smith). Its boundaries and management have evolved since establishment as forestry, hydroelectric and recreational interests have been balanced with conservation.

Strathcona sits on central Vancouver Island; nearby communities include Gold River and Campbell River which provide common access points and services for visitors. The park spans rugged island interior terrain with lakes, valleys and alpine ridges.
