Store Koldewey is an island off northeastern Greenland located within the high Arctic sector of Greenland. It lies inside the boundaries of the region protected as part of Northeast Greenland National Park.
The island is remote and largely uninhabited, characterised by Arctic coastal and glaciated terrain rather than developed visitor facilities. Wildlife and sea-ice conditions are the principal natural features of interest to scientific visits and expedition cruises that pass the region.
There is no record of permanent settlement on the island; human activity has been limited to occasional exploration, scientific surveying and nautical visits. The island’s name appears on modern Arctic charts and maps.
