Stony Point Battlefield is a Revolutionary War battlefield and state historic site on the west bank of the Hudson River in Stony Point, Rockland County, New York. It is best known as the site of a Continental Army nighttime assault in 1779.
British forces had established a fortified position at Stony Point during the Revolutionary War; Continental troops led a successful nighttime bayonet assault to retake it in 1779. The location has since been preserved as a historic site and museum to interpret that battle.
The battlefield sits on the Hudson River shoreline in Stony Point, about 30 miles north of midtown Manhattan and within Rockland County, New York.
