The Stockholm Stock Exchange Building (Börshuset) is an 18th-century public building on Stortorget in Gamla stan, Stockholm. The building was completed in the late 1770s and today houses the Nobel Museum and rooms used by the Swedish Academy.
The ground floor hosts the Nobel Museum, a focused exhibition space presenting the history of the Nobel Prizes and displays about individual laureates. The museum includes temporary and permanent exhibits and visitor information about the prizes.
Other parts of the building contain ceremonial rooms associated with the Swedish Academy, and the façade and historic interior are points of interest for people exploring Stortorget and Gamla stan. The square and surrounding narrow streets make the site easy to pair with visits to nearby attractions in the Old Town.
Designed by architect Erik Palmstedt and completed in the late 1770s, the building was originally constructed to house the Stockholm stock exchange. Over time its role shifted toward cultural and institutional uses; the Nobel Museum opened there in 2001 and the Swedish Academy has long occupied parts of the building.
Sited on Stortorget in Stockholm’s Old Town (Gamla stan), the building sits amid medieval streets and near Stockholm Cathedral and the Royal Palace. The nearest metro stop is Gamla stan and the area is walkable from central Stockholm.
