Stensjön, Tyresta

Stensjön is a lake located within Tyresta National Park in Stockholm County, Sweden and is part of the protected forest and lake landscape of the park. The lake is a common natural feature encountered on hiking routes through Tyresta.

Hikers encounter well-marked trails that pass the lake, with opportunities for short walks, nature observation and seasonal swimming where permitted. The surrounding old-growth forest, clear water and rocky shoreline make it a representative example of the park’s natural character.

Tyresta National Park was established to protect the area’s forests and freshwater systems, and Stensjön has been managed as part of that protected area to conserve its natural values. The park preserves typical southern Scandinavian forest and lake habitats.

The lake sits within Tyresta National Park about 20 kilometres southeast of central Stockholm. It is accessible by public transport and park trails from the suburbs to the southeast of the city.
