State Flag Square is a prominent public square in Baku, Azerbaijan, notable for its display of the national flag on a very tall flagpole. The square was developed as a national ceremonial and commemorative space on the city’s waterfront.

The most visible feature is the towering national flag and flagpole set against the Caspian Sea backdrop, which draws visitors for photographs and for occasional official ceremonies. The open plaza provides views along the bay and is frequently included on city sightseeing routes.

The square was created in the 21st century as part of Baku’s urban redevelopment and national commemorative projects. It has been used for state ceremonies and large public gatherings.

The square lies on the Baku waterfront looking over the Caspian Sea, southeast of the central Old City and reachable from the main boulevard and highways.

• Ceremonial role: The site is a national ceremonial space dominated by a very tall national flagpole and is often used for official state events and flag-raising ceremonies.

• Visit early morning or at dusk along the Baku Boulevard promenade for the best light on the giant flagpole and unobstructed views of the Flame Towers across the bay; the square is open-air so those times are both cooler and quieter.
• Approach from the boulevard/waterfront pedestrian route rather than trying to drive into the square; there's generous public access from the promenade which makes photography and strolling easier.
• Don't skip the waterfront viewpoint opposite the flag square - it gives a better composition of the flag, the sea and the city skyline than pictures taken from inside the plaza itself.
