Stadil Fjord

Stadil Fjord is a shallow coastal inlet on the west coast of Jutland in the Central Denmark Region. It functions as a lagoon-like fjord with extensive reedbeds and intertidal areas.

The area is valued for birdwatching and coastal nature observation, with large mudflats and reedbeds that attract waders and waterfowl. Walks and viewpoints along the shore provide opportunities to observe tidal changes and coastal birdlife at relatively close range.

The fjord system formed after post-glacial sea level changes and has been shaped over centuries by sedimentation and the action of waves and wind that form sandbars and spits. Human use has included small-scale fishing and coastal management rather than heavy development.

Stadil Fjord sits on Denmark’s west Jutland coast facing the North Sea. It is part of the coastal lagoon systems that lie between the mainland and the North Sea barrier islands and sandbars.
