The Stade Vélodrome in Marseille is a large multi-purpose stadium and the main football venue of the city. It was originally opened in the 1930s and has been substantially renovated several times, most recently ahead of Euro 2016.
The stadium hosts Ligue 1 football matches, concerts and major sporting events; the bowl offers multiple tiers of seating and modern spectator facilities following renovation. The venue is notable for its atmosphere during high-attendance football matches.
Built as a velodrome-style stadium in the 1930s, it has been rebuilt and expanded across the 20th and early 21st centuries to increase capacity and modernize facilities. The stadium has been the long-term home of Olympique de Marseille.

How to Get to Stade Vélodrome #
Stade Vélodrome is in Marseille’s 8th arrondissement on Boulevard Michelet. From the city centre take Marseille Metro Line 2 to Rond-Point du Prado station; from there the stadium is roughly a 10-15 minute walk (or a short local bus or taxi). By car it is a few kilometres southeast of Marseille’s Old Port on the main roads into the 8th district; allow extra time for event parking.
