There is no direct Amtrak service to the city; most rail or long-distance bus connections are routed through Kansas City or served by Jefferson Lines.

Rosecrans Memorial Airport (STJ): Rosecrans is the city-owned airport in St. Joseph used mainly for general aviation and charters; there are no scheduled commercial airlines. From Rosecrans you can reach downtown St. Joseph by taxi or rideshare in about 10-15 minutes; expect roughly $10-25 for a one-way trip depending on vehicle and traffic.

Kansas City International Airport (MCI): MCI is the nearest major commercial airport, about 55-60 miles (roughly 50-75 minutes by car) south of St. Joseph. Options into St. Joseph include rental car (drive time ~55-75 minutes), rideshare/taxi (estimated one-way fares commonly in the $60-120 range depending on demand), or take an intercity bus from Kansas City to St. Joseph (see Jefferson Lines in the Bus card) - buses typically take about 1-1.5 hours between the two cities.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no Amtrak passenger service directly to St. Joseph. The nearest Amtrak stop is Kansas City Union Station (served by the Southwest Chief). From Kansas City you can continue to St. Joseph by rental car or intercity bus; driving takes about 55-75 minutes.

Bus: Jefferson Lines provides intercity bus service that serves St. Joseph and connects to Kansas City and other regional destinations. Typical one-way fares on Jefferson Lines between Kansas City and St. Joseph are commonly in the $8-$25 range and the trip takes about 60-90 minutes.
