Spreepark is an abandoned amusement park in the Plänterwald area of Berlin, located alongside the Spree river. It operated as a public amusement park for decades before closing and becoming a derelict landmark within the city.
The park’s highlights are its derelict rides and parkscape, including a notable Ferris wheel and various coaster structures, which remain as visible remnants of its operational past. The site has attracted attention for urban exploration photography and discussions about redevelopment, but large parts of the park are fenced and not safe for unsupervised entry.
Originally opened in the late 1960s as a public leisure park and later operating under the Spreepark name, it changed ownership and use over time before closure in the early 21st century. Since closure there have been periodic proposals and limited restoration work, but the site has largely remained out of regular public use.
The park is located in Berlin’s Treptow-Köpenick borough, in the Plänterwald along the eastern bank of the Spree river, within urban woodland and close to the city’s southeastern districts.
- Status: Park operations ceased in 2002 and many original rides and structures remain on site in a derelict condition, making the site visually distinctive but restricted for safety reasons.
