Spodek is a multipurpose indoor arena in Katowice, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, known for its characteristic disc-shaped roof and modernist design. It functions as a major venue for sports, concerts and large public events in the Silesian region.

Inside the complex visitors encounter a main arena space used for basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, large concerts and exhibitions, surrounded by ancillary halls and conference facilities. The building’s exterior profile and interior sightlines are designed for large audiences and multifunctional staging.

Constructed in the late 20th century to serve as a regional cultural and sports venue, the arena quickly became an architectural symbol of Katowice. Since opening it has hosted domestic and international sporting competitions, cultural events and touring music acts.

Spodek sits near the centre of Katowice in the Silesian Voivodeship, accessible by city transport and within the urban fabric of the city. It is a short journey from Katowice’s main transport hubs and central districts.

• If visiting outside an event, check the Spodek calendar - the building is often closed between bookings.
• Notice the wear on the terrazzo at the northwest concourse - local concertgoers still lean on that rail every time. It's an excellent spot for photos of the roofline.
