The Southern Suburbs are a cluster of residential and institutional neighbourhoods southeast of Cape Town city centre in the Western Cape, South Africa. The area is known for mature residential streets, major sports grounds, and direct access to the southern slopes of Table Mountain.
Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens sits on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain and is a major attraction for plant displays, walking paths, and access to upland trails. The Newlands area contains prominent sports venues for cricket and rugby, while suburbs such as Rondebosch and Claremont host commercial centres and university campuses.
