South Devon National Landscape is a protected landscape in south Devon, England, covering coastal and adjacent inland areas recognised for their scenic and ecological value. The designation recognises the area’s combination of coastal cliffs, estuaries, farmland and small towns.
The area offers coastal walking routes, headland viewpoints, river estuaries and rural lanes that are popular for scenic drives, hiking and boating. Towns and villages within the landscape provide access to beaches, harbours and local amenities.
The landscape has long been shaped by agriculture, maritime activity and settlement; national-level protection recognises its distinctive character and aims to conserve that character for landscape and recreational purposes.
The national landscape occupies parts of south Devon on England’s southwest coast, facing the English Channel and encompassing a mix of coastal headlands, estuaries and rural hinterland.
