Souq Waqif

Souq Waqif is a traditional market district in central Doha composed of narrow streets, shops and courtyard restaurants that specialise in spices, textiles, handicrafts and falconry supplies. The souq occupies a compact zone near the Corniche and is a focal point for local commerce and dining.

Stalls and small shops sell spices, perfumes, textiles, traditional garments, and antiques, while the Falcon Souq is a distinct area for birds and related equipment. The souq is also known for its evening atmosphere, with restaurants and open courtyards attracting locals and visitors.

The market evolved from an older trading area and was restored in the early 21st century to preserve traditional architectural forms. The redevelopment aimed to conserve the character of the trading quarter while improving infrastructure and services for visitors.

Souq Waqif sits in central Doha a short distance inland from the waterfront Corniche, within walking distance of several central Doha landmarks and public transport links.
