Sooke Mountain Provincial Park is a provincial park on southern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The park preserves upland forest and mountain terrain north of the town of Sooke and west of Victoria.

The park is largely backcountry in character, with trails and forested slopes used for hiking and nature observation rather than developed day-use facilities. Recreational access is generally via forest roads and trailheads from the Sooke area.

The protected area was established to conserve upland ecosystems on Vancouver Island and to provide backcountry recreation opportunities. Management emphasizes habitat protection for coastal temperate rainforest species and retention of natural forest conditions.

Sooke Mountain Provincial Park sits inland from the Strait of Juan de Fuca, north of the town of Sooke on southern Vancouver Island. The park occupies mountainous, forested terrain that forms part of the island’s central highlands.

How to Get to Sooke Mountain Provincial Park #

From downtown Victoria, drive west on Highway 14 (Sooke Road) for roughly 25-35 km to the Sooke area; follow signs for Sooke Mountain Provincial Park. Trailheads and parking areas are reached from local access roads off Highway 14. There is no public transit directly into the park; a car is the usual option.
