Archaeological Site Ancient city ruins with Roman mosaics and harbor remains
Ruined colonnades, mosaic floors and a Roman-era theatre mark the ancient city of Soli; archaeologists and casual visitors come for exposed foundations, seaside tombs and scattered Hellenistic and Roman remains.
Soli is an archaeological site on the northern coast of Cyprus that preserves remains of an ancient city-kingdom located on Morphou Bay. The site contains structural ruins, mosaic pavements and other material remains from classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods.
At the site visitors can see the outlines of houses and public buildings, sections of paved streets and mosaic floors that indicate the urban plan of the Roman-era settlement. The site is visited for its visible ruins and the artefacts recovered during excavation.
Soli was occupied in antiquity and shows layers of habitation across several historical periods, with archaeological work documenting the sequence of settlement and urban development. Excavations have exposed domestic and public architecture as well as funerary remains.
The site lies on the northern Cypriot coast at Morphou Bay in the northwestern part of the island, close to other coastal ruins and within reach of regional road links.
