Sohail Castle

Sohail Castle (Castillo Sohail) is a hilltop fortress on the coastline of Fuengirola in Andalusia, southern Spain, originally constructed during the Islamic period and standing above the town and harbour. The castle dominates a headland at the mouth of the Fuengirola River and is a visible coastal landmark.

Visitors can walk the battlements and ramparts for views over the Mediterranean and the town below; the site includes restored defensive walls, towers and courtyard spaces. An open-air auditorium has been installed in the grounds and the castle is used for concerts, festivals and community events during the year.

The fortress was built in the medieval period under Muslim rule and was adapted after the Christian reconquest; it has undergone restoration in recent decades to preserve the structure and provide public access.

Sohail Castle sits on a low coastal headland in the municipality of Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol in Málaga province, providing a coastal viewpoint above the town and harbour.
