Málaga Cathedral is a cathedral in the historic centre of Málaga, Andalusia, Spain, built in Renaissance and Baroque styles. Construction began in 1528 and continued intermittently into the late 18th century, giving the building a mix of architectural influences.

The interior contains richly decorated chapels and a large choir area reflecting Renaissance and Baroque craftsmanship; visitors often note its ornate stonework and carved details. The cathedral is famous for its incomplete south tower, which gives it the local nickname “La Manquita.”

The cathedral was erected on the site of a former mosque after the Christian reconquest of Málaga; work began in the early 16th century and continued through successive campaigns into the 18th century. Different architects and styles contributed to its mix of Renaissance proportions and later Baroque additions.

Located in Málaga’s historic centre, the cathedral sits close to the Alcazaba and the Roman theatre and forms a central landmark within walking distance of the city’s main plazas and museums.

It is about a 10-20 minute walk from Málaga María Zambrano station (AVE/Cercanías) and is a few minutes’ walk from the city’s main bus stops in the old town; if you are already in the centre you can reach the cathedral in under 10 minutes on foot.

• Visit right at opening or late in the afternoon to avoid the busiest periods and to enjoy quieter time inside the Natividad Chapel and main nave.
• Book tickets in advance-particularly the rooftop/terrace visit-so you can skip the ticket queue and be sure of a slot for the cathedral's panoramic roof walk.
• Pair the cathedral visit with the adjacent Alcazaba and Roman Theatre on the same walking loop; the historical sites are next to each other so plan timing to avoid backtracking.
