How to Get to Škofja Loka
Škofja Loka is a short hop northwest of Ljubljana: fly into Ljubljana Airport (LJU) and continue by bus from Ljubljana's main bus or rail stations. Regional buses are the most practical public-transport option.
Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU): Ljubljana’s airport (Brnik) is the nearest international airport to Škofja Loka (about 25-35 km). From LJU you can take an airport bus or taxi into Ljubljana city centre (bus/shuttle fares about €4-€8; 20-30 minutes) and then continue to Škofja Loka by regional bus from the main bus station.
Trieste (TRS) / Venice (VCE): Depending on connections you may also fly into nearby Italian airports, but those require longer overland transfers (1.5-3+ hours) and are less convenient than LJU for Škofja Loka.
Train: Škofja Loka is better connected by bus than by national rail; Ljubljana’s Balet or main railway station (Ljubljana Railway Station) is the national rail hub. From there you’ll switch to bus services to Škofja Loka - direct trains to Škofja Loka are not the primary route.
