Skjervøya is an inhabited island in northern Norway within Troms county and the administrative area of Skjervøy municipality. It is one of the populated islands along Norway’s northern coast and serves as the municipality’s main island.
The island has long been a local centre for fisheries and coastal trade in northern Norway and has formed the administrative centre for the surrounding district. The settlement grew around maritime activities and has served as the focus of municipal services.
Situated in northern Norway, the island lies well above the Arctic Circle off the Norwegian coast in the region of Troms. It sits within the archipelago that makes up Skjervøy municipality and is surrounded by fjords and coastal waters.
