Sirri Island

Sirri Island is an island in the Persian Gulf administered from Hormozgan province, Iran, and is notable for its oil and gas installations and support facilities.

The island is primarily industrial rather than touristic; shorelines and built areas are dominated by energy-sector infrastructure. There is an operational airstrip and service facilities associated with petroleum operations, but routine tourist services are not available.

Sirri developed in the 20th century as exploration and extraction of oil and gas in the Persian Gulf intensified; the island hosts installations and worker accommodation tied to Iran’s offshore petroleum industry. Its development has been driven by state and national energy companies.
