Sipapu Bridge is a natural sandstone bridge located within Natural Bridges National Monument in southeastern Utah. The name comes from a Hopi word meaning “place of emergence.”
The bridge is one of the park’s principal features and is viewed from rim viewpoints that give clear perspectives of its span and the canyon below. The formation is an example of fluvial erosion that created a large arch connecting canyon walls.
Sipapu Bridge formed over thousands of years as running water undercut the sandstone, leaving a freestanding span; it has been documented by early explorers and is a named natural landmark in the region. The bridge and surrounding canyons are managed as part of the National Monument to preserve natural and cultural values.
The bridge sits in Natural Bridges National Monument in San Juan County in southeastern Utah, within a high-desert canyon landscape.
