Sihlsee

Sihlsee is an artificial reservoir in the Canton of Schwyz, Switzerland, formed by damming the Sihl river. It functions as a managed water body used for hydropower and river flow regulation and is a local recreational resource.

The lake’s shoreline and nearby trails are used for walking, cycling, boating and fishing, and the reservoir provides scenic views of the surrounding uplands. Facilities around the lake support day visitors rather than large-scale tourism.

The reservoir was created when a dam was built on the Sihl river; the dam and lake together regulate downstream flows and supply water for hydropower and municipal needs. Over time the area has become integrated into local outdoor recreation networks.
